PRESS RELEASE
Serbs for Justice and Democracy applauds the swift actions of the UNHCR representative in Croatia expressing “strong concern“ at the refusal of a Croatian Doctor in Croatia to treat a citizen of Serb nationality who was suffering from a stroke.
Mr Radic was found on Sunday morning suffering from ill-health and the ambulance in Otocac was called, but did not respond or attend. His neighbours then drove him to Otocac where Dr Mujkanovic examined him and instructed Mr Radic’s son that there was nothing wrong and to take Mr Radic home, even though obvious signs of stroke were evident, including facial muscle dysfunction, loss of sight in his right eye, and unsteady gait.
Subsequently, when the local Mayor intervened seeking from Dr Mujkanovic a referral for Mr Radic to be sent to Ogulin for treatment, Dr Mujkanovic refused. When they asked for Mr Radic to be readied by the Sister so that they could take him to nearby Ogulin themselves, Dr Mujkanovic ordered them to “Get Out!!” of the room and wait in the hallway. They did, and heard Dr Mujkanovic continue his racist tirade shouting “Chetnik vermin !, .. I have had enough of Chetnik extremism !,…Do you want to sing the ‘Vojvoda Sindjelic’ song,.. what can you do when you are born Chetniks ?”, and similar insults.
The Chetniks refers to WWII Serbian and nationalist Yugoslav resistance forces, who in Australia march on Anzac Day with our diggers as Allies, and who opposed the German Nazis and Croatian Fascist Ustashi.
Mr Radic was then driven to Ogulin by private car as the Doctor would not order an ambulance.
This is example of the racial discrimination directed toward non-ethnic Croatians, and a abuse of their basic human rights.
